Sutton Movement Writing is the International Movement Writing Alphabet (the IMWA). Typed by computer or written by hand, the IMWA is used to record all human and animal gesture. The same symbols are applied in different ways for different professions. There are five sections: SignWriting, for writing the movements of Sign Languages, DanceWriting, for writing dance choreography, MimeWriting, for writing classic mime, SportsWriting, for writing ice skating, gymnastics, and skateboarding, and MovementWriting, for gesture analysis.
